National Chimney Safety Week

What did I learn this past week?

  • In the effort to determine a winner in the "Which pie has a higher nutritional value? Apple or Pumpkin" debate, we had to look up what molasses contained. I had my money on Pumpkin. Apples are mainly sugar and fiber. Pumpkin would have won even before we found out that molasses (a key ingredient in my co-workers pumpkin pie) was so good.
  • The season premiers are here. I am still trying to figure out what time everything comes on. I have to say that most of the new shows won't make it past the pilot episodes.
  • My friend's dad lost his very short battle with brain cancer. His last day was a good one.
  • I was able to find out the song that is playing in some of the Scion radio spots and in an interview they did with MSTRKRFT. I decided to email Scion and ask because the internet was no help. The song was licensed specifically for Scion. The track title is "Dancehall R9". There is no artist information available.

Projects!
  • Baking: The return of Karen's chocolate cake. Chocolate so dark that light cannot escape its grasp. It is waiting for it's second layer of frosting.
  • Sewing: I knocked out 2 shirts for the massage therapist and the black-dress-a-thon should be coming to a close in the next week.

National Assisted Living Week

So, I've been bad again. Last week there was no update. I managed to update my other blog and stop by and update the Wardrobe Refashion blog. I just never found my way back to where I started.

What have I learned in the past two weeks?

Projects!
  • Sewing: I finished 2 skirts for my sister and a few for myself. I started the black-dress-a-thon. I am still working on the perfect little black dress.
  • Baking: I made rice crispy treats for my co-workers because they are awesome.
  • Soul Cleansing: I've been going out dancing more often. I am trying to prevent myself from becoming feral.

National Truck Driver Appreciation week

Normally I had truckers. But this week I am thankful. A truck delivered my brand new car from the Port of Houston.

What did I learn this past week:

  • You will get more for your car if you sell it on Craigslist. You will have to do more work (fielding phone calls and emails) and there is a chance that you could get car jacked or abducted by a potential buyer. If you are thinking about selling your car, you should check out what the DMV has to say...
  • I was able to unbraid my hair in a record 3 hours on Saturday. It only took 5 hours to get it rebraided on Sunday. BTW. My braiders are awesome. Call Ida at Charms African Hairbraiding and Weaving 512-323-2409. They are only closed on Monday.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I plowed through a pile of stuff to be altered. I've also torn apart a few pairs of jeans to make skirts.
  • Baking: I made Whole Wheat Scones. I used real butter, organic sugar and milk to make them though.
