The Sapphire Room on the Ecstasy

That is where my best friend got married last week. We boarded the Carnival Cruise ship just as the tropical storm touched down in Galveston. The wedding went on without a hitch though. The bride and groom made it to Cozumel and back for their honeymoon (it is hurricane season so we weren't sure that they would make it).

What did I learn this past week?

  • I am pre-approved for my car loan. My Honda fit is on order.
  • I made a wise choice not to go on the cruise. Trying to find a decent vegetarian lunch was difficult in the all you can eat buffet. It was also good that I hadn't planned on extending my stay in Galveston. The beach really wasn't an option on Friday.
  • The gift of food is always appreciated. When I am stressed, I cook. If you are lucky, you end up with the free gift of dinner from me.
  • Megan's new cat is crazy.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I dropped off some clothes and picked up a few items to repair.
  • Soul Cleansing: I went out dancing on Friday and Saturday night.

Thanks for all the gifts week

So this week's entry is a wee bit late. My best friend got married on Thursday.

What did I learn this past week?

  • Last week I learned what it takes to be a NELAC Assessor. Essentially I was auditing the class, but if I did well on the test... well that's one more thing to add to my resume.
  • I finally got to test drive the Honda Fit. I like it. I have a silver sport on order now. I should have it in the next few weeks. Now I am working on selling my corolla. Hopefully I can get back the $2000 I spent on it this year and then some.
  • I spent some time getting Meg ready to go for the wedding cruise. I assigned myself to take care of anything related to the dress (safety pins, double stick tape, underware).
Projects!
  • Sewing: I finished up the second batch of pants for the massage therapist. I finished my dress so I could wear it to the wedding.
  • Baking: I was stressed so I decided to cook. I made a gigantic batch of ziti. I am trying to get rid of all the white pasta (I am not supposed to eat it so I am giving it away).

National Fraud Awareness Week

What did I learn this past week?

  • Car hunting still sucks. It will take atleast 3 weeks to get a Honda Fit. I've pondered going to a dealership in Dallas. I am also freaking out about having a car payment. I've never had a car payment before.
  • I went to the Austin Museum of Art last weekend. The Barton Springs Exhibit was worth checking out.
  • The Habitat Re-store will accept used toilets.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I made a few adjustments to Meg's wedding dress. I am currently working on a dress for myself (which I will probably wear to Meg's wedding).

Single Working Women's Week

What did I learn this past week?

  • Car hunting sucks. I don't want a car payment but it appears that any used car with decent gas mileage costs as much as the new models.
  • I've been helping out a friend and her family with home repairs. My friend's dad was diagnosed with cancer and they will have to sell the house.
  • Shoe hunting is worse than car shopping.
  • The mold count is out of control. I am ready to claw out my eyes, they itch so much.
Projects!
  • Sewing: Pants for the massage therapist are done.
  • Soul Cleansing: I think I need to go on vacation.
