Carpenter Ant Awareness week

I am aware of the carpenter ants. That is why I am working on constructing a new mailbox. I should have it up this weekend.

What did I learn this past week?

  • My budget silkscreening project worked out pretty well.
  • We are still waiting for the reorg. I have penned my prediction. I am feeling a little like Nostradamus right now.
  • I took defensive driving last week. The most important part was learning that if you go to a drive through liquor store and they give you a cup full of margaritas with a straw it's not considered an open container if they put a piece of tape over the straw.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I finished up a few skirts that were made from recycled pants. I cut out two dresses and one is about 80% done.

International Letter Boxing week

I have to say yes to films in their original format. Now all I need is a big screen tv.

What did I learn this past week?

  • The trip to east Texas can be fun. I took my mentor up for 2 days of "auditing" excitement. Although the fun was going out for drinks and playing org chart bingo.
  • Humidity is not helping my mailbox project. I am still finishing up the spray painting portion.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I am working on new class ideas and finishing up a few projects. The sundress, a few t-shirt refashions, a custom skirt, all done.
  • Baking: I made Chocolate cake for Father's Day.

National Automotive Services Professionals Week

I am keeping my fingers crossed that the a/c in my car doesn't crap out on me. IT IS HOT here.

What did I learn this past week?

  • My co-worker has officially filed her retirement paperwork. My boss is dragging her feet about getting the paperwork moving to hire someone new. I did some research and discovered that the paperwork can be routed to HR before the space is vacant. (gotta love government red tape).
  • FirstSamples has completely overhauled their class structure. Check it out....
  • I am still winning at the "I was right"game
  • I am still impressed with "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Audrey proved that the little black dress is the most important thing in a girls wardrobe.
  • I got a new alarm system. I am still waiting to figure out if it is a scam. The company checked out on the internet. They are called APX and they are a distributor of Honeywell systems. I basically got an $800 upgrade to a wireless system for free. The monitoring charges are $44/month. Sounded like a good idea to upgrade my rather pricey low-end service with ADT.
Projects!
  • Yard: I was forced to mow and trim my trees.
  • Sewing: I finished a sundress and started work on a second one.

National Sun Safety week

I will admit that at 30 years old, I still wear baby sunblock, spf 60ish. 1. Because it is smart, 2. I will look young forever, and 3. I have dark skin and I don't have an indicator to tell me that I have had too much sun.

What did I learn this past week?

  • An old dance student and friend of mine was on "So you think you can dance?"
  • I don't think I will ever get tired of playing the "I was right" game.
  • I took apart my newly acquired sewing machine. I was gifted one last week. It wasn't in bad shape. It just needed a new bobbin case and a thorough cleaning.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I am working on a new bookbag pattern. I made a mini hobo bag. I did some work on Megan's Dickies workwear pencil skirt. I finished a few shirts and continued to reorganize my sewing area.
  • Yard: The mosquitoes are winning.
