Telecommuter Appreciation Week

People that work from home are more productive. I believe it. Most of us are all pissed off and stressed out from our commutes. If I could go straight from my morning coffee to work, I would be a happy girl. Not having to get dressed in the morning would be a big perk as well.

What did I learn this past week?

  • My toilet has a crack in the base. I discovered it when I was working on the shower head (I dropped a washer and it rolled behind the toilet). This is not good. I am debating what the replacement potty will be. I have a height requirement.
  • It's time to revisit the "choose your own adventure game". A friend of mine is escaping work. Maybe it's time to follow. I think that I have hit the learning plateau.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I finished a jacket for Megan and made a purse for myself to match the Level II skirt. I have been working on the jacket but it isn't done yet.
  • Cooking: I made oatmeal cookies.

National Pancake Week

I'm feeling kind of blah this week. At work I've been wanting to break free and rescue the interns. They deserve better. I either I am coming down with something (the flu has been passed around) or work is draining my essence and I will end up like the podlings did.

What did I learn this past week?

  • I went out and saw a show on Friday. Of Montreal was pretty cool. Unfortunately my experience was soiled by the mass of people, the smokers and the freakishly cold weather.
  • I have a new favorite artist. Amy Winehouse. Hopefully I will get to see her at SXSW.
  • My cat decided to disappear and he is over due for his shots.
Projects!
  • Sewing: Level II is over. My skirt is almost done. I cut out a jacket and a vest this weekend.
  • Home Repair: My shower head is leaking. I found a replacement but it wasn't as good as the old showerhead. I think I will return it to the store.

National Condom Week

Wrap it up.

What did I learn this past week?

  • You will never know unless you ask. And the worse thing that can happen is that you are told "no".
  • Apparently some people need to be told that underware goes INSIDE the pants. Not literally. Apparently things that I consider elementary are not so elementary to the masses.
  • Planning a meeting takes a lot out of you. Planning a meeting and then going on a business trip is just a bad idea.
Projects!
  • Sewing: More aprons and a whole lot of bias tape. I audited the Level II class at FirstSamples.
  • Cooking: I don't remember cooking anything exciting last week. I did make more room in my freezer though (I traded Megan and Chris the lasagne for dinner at Curra's).

National Leadership Week

I am drained from planning for a work meeting for the last few weeks. My new favorite phrase at work is "would you like me to chew your food for you first?". That being said, leadership can be rather overrated. I often feel like more of a cat-hearder rather than a leader (This is mearly cementing my theory that it is easier to do things yourself than take the time to explain the job to someone else). I also have an issue being a leader for people that rank higher than me. Sure it's great that they respect/"obey" me, but I think I deserve some sort of monetary compensation.

What did I learn this past week?

  • It will cost me around $200 to organize my craft room closet the way I want. The lady at the container store was sad when I told her that I couldn't purchase the shelves this weekend.
  • I went to FirstSamples 2nd birthday. I met some new people. They were checking out my bum. But I didn't mind. They liked my jeans and they want to take my class.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I am making aprons again.
  • Cooking: Gingerbread muffins and cookies.

Groundhogs Day

What did I learn this past week?

  • Turning 30 isn't THAT big of a deal. The recap is here.
  • It takes about 3 packages of sandwich cookies to cover a car.
  • It pays to update your amazon wishlist My Amazon.com Wish List. I got some good stuff for my birthday.
Projects!
  • Home Repair: the pantry is DONE.
  • Sewing: I didn't sew but I spent some time organizing my sewing area
  • Baking: I revisited chocolate mousse. Although the texture was more truffle-like. I also made vanilla almond biscotti.
