Project Updates:

This is what the internet has to say about Creative Frugality Week...

What did I learn this past week?

• I survived Ice Storm 2007. Work was closed for 3 days and 2 hours.
  
• I cracked open the collector's edition of True Romance. Gotta love Tarantino.
  
• I lit up my fireplace a few times and actually remembered to open the flue. I didn't roast any marshmallows. I had them but it felt wrong to roast marshmallows alone.
  
• I love the pilates ring. I have 2 now. My core hurts.
  
• I had to retire my pizza stone. Actually, it retired itself. It broke when I was making pizza.
  
• I've been researching the latest in toaster ovens. I have a feeling that mine is going to die soon. I am debating the one with the toaster + oven or the one that doubles as a convection oven.
  

• Cooking: I made soup. I was so bored and cold that I made soup from scratch.
• Sewing: I made 2 hoodies. I am debating hemming the sleeves and bottom.
• Home Repair: I spackled and painted my pantry. Next I will put up new shelves.
  

It's cold. Really cold. It's a big change from the 70 degree weather we were having last week.

What did I learn this past week?

• Apparently the rat problem at work has worsened. The people on the 2nd floor decided to put out poison for the rats instead of using the recommended traps. Now we have to deal with the smell of decaying rats in the walls. Now the people on the 2nd floor have resorted to using illegal appliances (glade plugins, candles, aromatherapy oil burners, etc...) to cover up the smell.
  
• I do not like being trapped in my house. It is one thing to choose to stay inside but it is another to be stuck inside because of foul weather.
• I started practicing guitar again. Lessons are officially done for now (My teacher is on tour).
  

• Sewing: I finished my jacket. I am currently working on a few hooded shirts.
• Baking: I restocked my freezer with more Tofu pot pies.
• Soul Cleansing: I am back to researching where I am going to run off to.

First off I would like to thank Em for being my best customer EVER. Not only has she bought the most clothing (in the last year she bought 8 pairs of pants, a skirt, 3 pairs of shorts and a belt) but she has definitely pushed my sewing to the limit.

What did I learn this past week?

• I am waiting for a store to tell me that I am banned from returning things. I took a few more items back to the store :)
• Last Monday was totally bizarre. I had lunch with the long lost Karen and then managed to have dinner and see a movie with Em and Megan (this is super rare to see both Em and Megan at once and before 10pm).
• I got my new glasses back from the eye doctor. I am definitely noticing a difference.
• I discovered a new band this week. Dynah. Check them out on MySpace...
  

• Sewing: I finished a pair of pajama pants and worked on my new winter jacket.
• Computer: I bought an external hard drive and backed up my lap top. I felt like something bad was going to happen and I needed to prepare. Last time I checked the pie chart that represents my available memory there was a teeny sliver of available space.
• Baking: I am still working through the leftovers.
  

It turned out that the present that I bought for myself this year had already been purchased for me. That means I get to pick out a new present for myself.

What did I learn this past week?

• There was room for that extra lasagne in my freezer. I ended up giving away 2 as Xmas presents and didn't know what to do with the 3rd one. I managed to get rid of most of my other holiday leftovers (my freezer is packed).
• My computer has little to no space left on it. I blamed the digital camera. But I was wrong. It's the music downloads.
• I have receipts for EVERYTHING. I made a ton of returns last week and found receipts from Costco for the last 4 years.
  

• House: I cleaned my sewing room.
• Sewing: I finished up 2 pairs of pants for Megan. I am still working on Em's shirt.
  
• Baking: I made Spinach Mushroom Enchiladas. I also made some oven fries that totally rocked (Thank you Cook's Illustrated).
