National Chocolate Day

I am a little behind in posting because I have been blogging elsewhere.

What did I learn this past week?

  • I can make a lot of food in a short amount of time. Sunday I made pie crust and a ton of cookies. Monday night I managed to make 3 lasagnes and 4 mini tofu pot pies. Wednesday I made 4 loaves of foccacia and a chocolate cake.
  • My friends were extremely greatful for the Xmas Lasagnes :)
Projects!
  • Sewing: I am still learning to use my new serger.
  • Baking: I am still unloading leftovers.
  • Soul Cleansing: I made New Year's Cards

International Language Week

What did I learn this past week?

  • You get what you pay for...
  • There is a hose that is dangling from the underside of my car. I have no clue what it goes to. It's not leaking so I guess it is ok.
  • More good Jellydots news...
  • The little kitty can get into the house. I came home from a party around 2ish and go straight to bed. I think my cat was inside. Anyways, I wake up to the sound of howling kitties. I thought was outside but it was in my LIVINGROOM. Not what I wanted to deal with. How the little kitty figured out how to get in is beyond me. The cat doors are both locked until I figure out what to do next or the little kitty remembers that this is not his home.
Projects!
  • Sewing: 2 more pairs of pants. I also learned how my new serger works
  • Baking: I made a ton of cookies.

Human Rights Week

What did I learn this past week?
Last week was a bit of a blur. I did a lot of stuff over the weekend though.

  • Tuesday night my new serger arrived in the mail.
  • I went to the Punk Rock Pizza place called "The Parlor" on Friday night. The pizza was decent. They were desperately in need of a sound guy. I saw Ume and Beta Valentine.
  • Saturday I caught up with an old friend. It turns out that he bought a house just a few blocks from mine.
  • The Jellydots were on NPR and played a great gig at Antone's on Saturday afternoon.
  • I was trying to figure out if you could put a pony on your amazon wishlist. You can't. Apparently Amazon does not sell ponies.
  • I went to the clinic on Thursday. You can read about it here.
Projects!
  • Sewing: I cut out a ton of aprons this week. I really need to get cracking on Xmas presents.
  • Soul cleansing: I devoted a large chunk of time to doing absolutely nothing.
  • Cooking: I made fetuccini alfredo with sauteed mushrooms and steamed brocolli. It had been a long time since I had made a white sauce.

National Handwashing Awareness week

Check it out

What did I learn this past week?

  • My friends at FirstSamples have been featured in TIME magazine. I was interviewed for the article but unfortunately there is only so much space allotted for an article.
  • It was snowing in North Texas last week. I got to skip out on driving 10 hours for a 2 hour meeting because of the bad weather.
  • If you offer an incentive (like cookies), people will return your stuff in a timely manner :)
  • At the end of a long week, it's nice to hang out with a friend and do absolutely nothing but sit and talk.
  • I was able to fix my wooden peel. It warped last week. I made pizza and the dough stuck to the board (not enough cornmeal or too many toppings). I had to bake the board and when it started to cool it warped. Soaking it in a sink full of water for 2 days did the trick.

Projects!
  • Sewing: more pants for Em. 2 pairs done. 2 to go
