Nuclear Medicine Week

More things that I didn't know existed...

I also didn't know that you could get gator cupcakes at Whole Foods. My co-worker left this on my desk.

What did I learn this past week?

  • The difference between a Fleurchon and a Rosette
  • I saw Spinto Band and We are Scientists at Emo's with Em om Monday.
  • I can behave myself when I want to. I had my performance appraisal on Monday and decided that in honor of not being a brat, I would focus on someone other than me. I was trying to work towards the greater good.
  • I should not take the maximum doseage of Sudafed everyday (for a whole week). It can't be healthy.
  • I think I reminded my contractors that things aren't always what they seem. I think I shocked them last week during the audit. They have never met me face-to-face.
  • guitar lesson #5: I started learning my first song this week. I hope to master the "F" chord. It's what stopped me from teaching myself when I got my guitar 10 years ago.

Projects!
  • Sewing: I made 2 pairs of pants (I need to hem them). The Ninja Shorts are almost done.
  • Baking: I made Oatmeal, chocolate chip cookies the other night. I really wanted cookies but I was too lazy to put on pants to leave the house. Lucky for me, I have baking supplies on hand.

banned books week - Celebrating the Freedom to Read

What am I reading? The Feminine Mystique. Unfortunately sewing interferes with reading time. I should switch to books on tape.

What did I learn this past week?

  • The season finale of Project Runway is on THIS week. There were some sad faces when we turned the TV on Wednesday and were greeted with a rerun.
  • My new favorite band is the French Kicks. Em and I saw them at Emo's last Thursday.
  • You'd think that if you put a ton of smart people in a room you could make some educated decisions. In reality, no decisions will be made.
  • I have been trying to dig up information on Data Usability Assessments. It's the next big thing in QA.

Projects!
  • Yard: I finally got around to mowing the yard. The weather was no longer an excuse.
  • Sewing: I finished my dress and Em's belt. I am currently working on some shorts with ninja's appliqued on them.
  • Soul cleansing: still working on tollerance.

Build a Better Image Week

I am working on it. I have been a total brat lately and I am working to correct that.

What did I learn this past week?

  • I had a long talk with my mom and it turns out that I was that kid. The kid who was always asking why. Luckily I had parents that gave me real answers instead of saying "because I said so".
  • I saw a pretty cool band at Emo's the other night. Junior Boys. Check them out.
  • I went to a pretty lame ACL party. The highlight was seeing MSTRKRFT

Projects!
  • Sewing: Board Shorts are done. Looks like I will be making another pair. I also started a dress for myself (I have a wedding to go to and I wanted something new).
  • Soul Cleansing: I had a long debate on the concept of settling down.

Minority Enterprise Development Week

I recently thanked my mom and dad for raising me and my sister to be the adaptive people that we are. Some people just don't have what it takes to "make it happen." I may not be book smart but I often appear to be. It's because I can think fast on my feet and I am not afraid to go in search of answers. There is a downside to this fast thinking, make it happen ability. I am pretty stubborn and impatient.

What did I learn this past week?

  • Guitar Lesson #4: I learned how to re-string a guitar, more scales, and how to use a pick.
  • The PCL has the back issues of Threads Magazine that I need to finish my research project.
  • I sat through most of a football game on Saturday. I was reminded why I don't really like football. The game takes FOREVER. The upside was meeting some new people.

Projects!
  • Sewing: I am still working on those board shorts. The carpenter pants are done. I was drafted to make tournament grade beanhole bags. I need to get back to the suit project that I abandoned.
  • Spinsta: Still working on that class curriculum
  • Websites: Does redesigning my myspace page count?
  • Soul Cleansing: I have given up on my quest to be less bitchy at work. I am going to try and focus on the tollerance challenge. It is way more important.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Month

September began as I escaped from East Texas last week. The weather was nice but I was eager to get home.

What did I learn this past week?

  • La Quinta is no longer spanish for "the hotel next to Denny's". It is spanish for "free high-speed internet".
  • My superfund site is pretty good looking.
  • Time out is for grownups too. Due to overexposure to my boss I had to put myself in time out to avoid being that gov't employee on the news who was sent to prison.
  • Guitar Lesson #3: More blues + some scales.
  • My cat has figured out how to get in through the magnetic cat door with out his collar.

Projects!
  • Sewing: alterations mainly.
  • Spinsta: working on a curriculum
  • Dethroning fashion editor: still in progress
