Be Kind to Humankind Week

What did I learn this past week?

  • I have been researching digital cameras. I am leaning towards the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S60. 4 Megapixels, manual controls, etc...
  • I reviewed my latest credit report and only found one mysterious listing. Of course the only way to contact this company is by snail mail. You'd think that they would atleast have an 800 number.
  • I had to attend safety training at work last week and learned about hearing protection. Nothing new in that area.
  • The Pussywagon t-shirts that the Alamo Drafthouse said were limited edition were still available (by the truckload) when I went to their t-shirt clearance sale last Friday. I ended up leaving with 4 shirts (everything was $5 in honor of Mondotees getting their own website).
Projects!
  • Sewing: I finished up the last pair of pants that I had cut out and I cut out some shoe bags
  • Website: I made some updates to projectjen.com
  • Cooking: I made something that was a cross between a brownie and a muffin Friday night. The recipe was in Cuisine at home.
  • Yard: It is WAY too hot to work in the yard.
  • Soul Cleansing: I spent the whole day loafing and reading on Saturday. I also took a very long bath.

Summer Vacation

I just got back from San Francisco. The weather was crappy but, overall the trip was a success. I went dancing, shopped, went to a lot of great restaurants... If the pictures come out, I will post them (I have little faith in my camera and the effects of airport x-rays on film).

What did I learn this past week?

  • The airlines are cracking down and you can only bring 1 carry-on and 1 personal item on a flight.
  • You can never pack enough socks when travelling.

Projects!
  • Sewing: I am taking a break. I should probably take my sewing machine in to be cleaned.
  • Yard: It looks like it held up well during my week off. Only a few brown spots.
  • Website: I was unplugged for most of last week.
  • Soul Cleansing: I went to Armstrong Grove last Friday. It felt good to be around trees.

Thanks for all the gifts week

I'd like to take the opportunity to remind everyone that I LIKE PRESENTS.
Recently my mom made me some cool stuff and that reminded me that its nice to give/receive something "just because" not because of an event or a holiday.

What did I learn last week?

  • Most of my time at work is spent in meetings. Am I really earning as many productivity points as I should?
  • It is important to check in on old friends.
  • I don't go out for Indian food nearly enough.
Projects!
  • Sewing: the marathon is over. 3 more pairs of pants are done and I finished the messenger bags.
  • Yard: Due to heavy rain, I decided that it would be safe to scalp the yard. Hopefully the rain pattern continues.
  • Soul Cleansing: I have been planning where to go/what to do in San Francisco.

Don't Wait! Celebrate! Week

What is there to celebrate? GOING ON VACATION!
That's right boys and girls, I will be going to San Francisco for a whole week. Dancing and sightseeing.

What did I learn this past week:

  • I've been learning a whole lot more about EPA quality documents. In between projects I've been reading up on this stuff.
  • I went home this weekend and learned how to put in an inset zipper.
  • It is very important to sketch things out on paper before you start a project. I built a new messenger bag and without the sketches I would have had to tear it apart to insert a few things that needed to be constructed before the bag was assembled.
Projects:
  • Sewing: In the last week I have completed a pair of pants, and I cut out 2 messenger bags, 4 pairs of pants and a shirt. I will be very busy this week getting this stuff done before my trip.
  • Yard: The grass is growing.
  • Soul Cleansing: Trip to SF scheduled.

Simplify your life week

What did I learn this past week?

  • I learned a whole lot about nonpoint source grant management.
  • I found out that site remediation is merely a way of saying that you are going to pull something from one area and then hide it elsewhere.
  • Someone has been taking care of my cat. I noticed that someone had mended his collar with duct tape.
Projects!
  • Sewing: "Sassy Britches" by Spinsta' could be a reality. I am finally getting the hang of fitting pants. I tried out a new pattern last week and finished 2 pairs of pants.
  • Yard: I had to mow AGAIN! We had a lot of rain last week and the yard was getting really fluffy.
