Electronic Communications Week
What did I learn this past week?
- Enterprise Rent-A-Car was not lying when they said that if I needed anything that I should call the 800 number. I was driving back from Hughes Springs on Thursday night and hit something in the road and managed to get a flat. Ordinarily one would avoid things in the road but that was next to impossible in the storm that I ran into south of Waco. I called the 800 number and they said that they would have someone out to fix the tire or or tow the car in about 45 minutes (apparently a lot of people were in need of roadside assistance that night). I got a call from the local towing company in Temple and they said that they would have someone out to me in 20 minutes. The towing guy came and changed my tire (in the rain) and I didn't even have to get out of the car. The cost to me? NOTHING!
- I want a car with a sunroof. The rental had a sunroof and I had a great time on my 6 hour drive to Hughes Springs with it open. It didn't hurt that it also had a 6 cd changer.
- Websites: Spinsta.net should be up and running next week. I spent a chunk of time workin on the css this weekend. I managed to get things pretty close to the mockups I made in photoshop.
- Sewing: I have 1 skirt left to finish up.
- Spinsta: I am working on getting some samples together for Storyville. My goal is to get that stuff done by mid-May.
- Gardening: I am working on getting control over the weeds in my garden. My co-worker shared her gardening trick of spreading out a thick layer of newspaper (don't cover up your plants) before putting down the topsoil to kill off the weeds and grass in the flower beds.
